Art for auction
Since 2013 it’s been an absolute honour and privilege to produce a piece of artwork for 10x10 London the annual flagship fundraising charity auction for Article 25.
Each year, the charity divides a section of London into a 10x10 grid with 100 squares. These are then allocated to architects, designers and artists who in turn capture their unique view on the city through various artistic methods.
Welbeck Street car park study
This year’s focus was the Elizabeth Line. Just on the edge of my square, to my delight, was the stunning Brutalist Welbeck Street Car Park. Once I saw it, that’s what I knew my focus was. As a fan of Brutalist architecture anyway this really is a truly wonderful example of the era. Geometric, diamond concrete shapes create the façade. Wherever you look there’s jutting shapes, shadows and lines. I chose to focus on the detail and have created a triptych and my small tribute and ode to this elegant Brutalist beauty.
Take a look through the previous galleries of past auctions to get a feel for the artwork - and spot mine! Also keep an eye out for when this year’s art is featured as you’ll be able to take part in an online auction.
