Stella says anyone can come
Well there’s my invite sorted to visit Stella McCartney’s new flagship store on Bond Street. A great interview by Dezeen with the talented designer with sustaibability at the core of all she does, here she invites everyone to the store simply to play her dad’s records (yes relly) and enjoy the experience.
Stella gives insight into her clothes design as well as the new store's design which is what grabbed my attention. The sculpted steel staircase and concrete look backdrop to her bags and clothes create an “architectural experience” contrasting with boulders from her family farm in Kintyre Scotland.
But most importantly is her message of sustainability. The fact that she worked hard to source raw pulp from from a sustainably certified forest in Sweden so she could create sustainable viscoise is quite an achievement. Especially as this meant pushing against the grain to get the manufactuers to change their weaving process is quote something.
You can read the full interview and marvel at the interior design via Dezeen.
